GeoSMT project
First successful test scan of mammal teeth at the University of Texas High Energy Computer Tomography Lab. The scans show excellent resolution of the enamel and the bone. The high spatial and spectral resolution of these scans provide a sound basis for further, quantitative research on taxonomy and evolution of small mammals. (Robert Marschallinger, GIScience)

AGIT 2008 conference announcement 
The Symposium for Applied Geographic Information Processing (AGIT) serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas, for learning about new developments and presenting innovative projects. Participants from industry and academia meet with users for the public and private sectors for paper and poster presentations, panel discussions and tutorial workshops.
The ÖAW-GIScience research unit is a cooperation partner of the AGIT and presents GIScience research in various manners at the conference.
